Varsity Crest was born out of a simple frustration: why is it so hard to find quality custom merch for the organizations we love most?
We’re a San Francisco family — rooted in this city, embedded in its schools, its clubs, and its athletic fields and courts. For years, we were that family: coaching youth volleyball, basketball, and baseball, serving on the Parent Guild Executive Board, volunteering to design banners and fliers — and quietly redesigning every team shirt in our heads because we knew they could look so much better. More than anything, we just wanted to show pride for our kids’ teams and the communities they were part of. When you can’t find something worthy of what they’ve worked for, you make it yourself.
Some of our most meaningful projects have come directly from that involvement. When a teacher asked for a simple logo for Author’s Night, we saw something bigger — a chance to put the kids’ own artwork on the shirt. It took weeks to gather every student’s drawing and make each sketch print-ready, but watching the kids wear their own art — and seeing their families wear it too — made every hour worth it. That’s the kind of work we’re here to do.
Then there’s the girls’ volleyball team. We watched that group go from zero wins in 4th grade all the way to Champions in 8th. When it came time to commemorate that journey, we designed a hoodie and had every player sign it. Four years of hard work, sweat, and pride — permanent.
We come from a background in fashion design — from ready-to-wear to couture — and we never stopped drawing. The How Do I Look? collection started as our own hand-drawn fashion illustrations that we simply wanted to wear. That same instinct — to put genuine care and creativity into every garment — is what we bring to every custom order.

You can order custom shirts from dozens of places online. We know — we’ve used them. The experience is always the same: a clunky upload tool, a mystery print facility far away, garments that feel stiff and look cheaper than the price suggests.
We started Varsity Crest because the people running youth sports programs, school clubs, and community organizations deserve a partner who genuinely cares — someone with firsthand experience in these communities, who knows what it feels like to cheer from the stands, run those practices, and fight for every win. Someone who thinks about the fit, the fabric, the colorway, and whether that logo actually lands the way it should. Not just a vendor. A partner who has lived it.
We keep our runs intentionally small. That’s not a limitation — it’s a choice. Small batches mean we can focus on every single order. We’re not pushing volume; we’re protecting quality.
Mostly, though, we do this because we believe in the organizations we serve. We’ve sat in those bleachers. We’ve coached those kids. We know what it means when a team puts on a shirt that looks and feels good.
